An exciting region with its potential only now being appreciated.  Previously a mainly bulk producing wine region, now the trend is to make smart well packaged wines of better quality.  Known as the cellar of Italy, Apuglia sold wines to the world in Roman times.  Wine production is modernising and with the resurgence of Primitivo and the rich internse varieties of Negro Amaro and Malvasia Nera.
