Tuscany - Central West Italy

This region of Italy is possibly the most well-known.  The soil and climate is ideal for planting vines, which have flourished here for many centuries.  Sangiovese is the best known grape variety planted in Tuscany and is used to produce that famous wine, Chianti.  Tuscan viticulture was until recently dominated by large estates owned by wealthy, local families.  Today vineyard owners are from Milano, Roma and many International countries.
